Review

This was a vintage Celtic performance on a day when every player was on form and the best start to the campaign for the seventh successive League flag. It drew comparisons with the Lisbon Lions at their best and also the great Real Madrid side of the 1960's.

Callaghan's goal was the pick of the bunch. After Murdoch found him with a fine pass he ran 30 yards before scoring with a great shot. Callaghan was turning out some really class performances and was probably the most improved Celtic player of late with his willingness to run, fetch and carry as well as score goals.

Celtic's attacking options were magnificent with Hay and Gemmell attacking from full back, Johnstone and Lennox flying down the wings and Dalglish and Macari up front. Top scorer from last season Harry Hood couldn't even find a place on the bench.
