  • Celtic announce the signing of Dixie Deans from Motherwell for £20,000. He was signed whilst serving out a suspension and would be unable to play play until 27 November.
  • With Bobby Murdoch and Jimmy Johnstone both out with injuries then a slight reshuffle was in order. Back in came Vic Davidson who had been with the Reserves after being out injured near the beginning of the season. The surprise absence when the teams came out was Tommy Callaghan who had not missed a first team game so far this season.
  • Police were in action on the terraces throughout the game.
  • On the same day Celtic defeated Ayr Utd 3-1 in a Reserve Cup match at Celtic Park. The Celtic team was Marshall, McGrain, Watt, McCluskey, Gemmell, Cattanach, Hancock, White, Franchetti, Mitchell, Wilson Sub O'Hara. The Celtic scorers were Wilson 2 and Franchetti.

Review

Celtic had 3 goals disallowed but Dalglish would not be denied. Connaghan earning rave reviews in goal with fine handling and good distribution.

At the end of the month Celtic stood second in the table a point behind Aberdeen. Rangers had made a recovery after a string of losses. St Johnstone too were on a run.
