Review

This was far from the walkover that had been expected. They got off on the right foot after 12 minutes when Dixie headed home a Harry Hood cross. But East Fife continued to fight and got their reward with an equaliser before the break. Their defense coped well with the pressure and East Fife's goalkeeper Dave Gorman had an excellent game.
Celtic applied the pressure in the second half but could not find the net. It took till 15 minutes for the end for Dixie to get another header on target this time from a Paul Wilson corner.
Celtic missed the excellent distribution of Connelly and never really got going.
Bobby Cairns was sent off one minute before the end.
