Review

Motherwell are deserved winners on the night and take the tie to a third game. They fought for every 50-50 ball and usually came out on top.
Again Motherwell had a solid defense and an excellent goalkeeper (he would soon join Manchester City). Celtic attacked incessantly but were over-elaborate in front of goal.
The game carried the remnants of the last two encounters between the sides which had been 'robust' and Deans and Muir were booked early on for a scuffle between them. Mothewrwell scored in a well taken breakaway and were unlucky not to be awarded a penaly soon after when Brogan pulled down an attacker and was duly booked.
Hood was brought down in the area on 67 minute's but McRae saved Connelly's shot.
In extra time there were chances at both ends.

Connelly hit the 'Well bar from 40 yards with a spectacular shot.
