Trivia

  • Further meetings continued to raise the possibility of Sunday football during the state of emergency period.
  • Celtic play in green socks.
  • Celtic fans sing 'Dixie Deans, superstar, how many goals have you scored so far' ?
  • Andy Ritchie makes his Celtic debut as a sub. Ritchie had been farmed out as a 17 y.o. to Kirkintilloch Rob Roy where he'd scored a shed load of goals for the juniors. This season he had been called up to the Reserves full time.
  • In goal for Dunfermiline was ex-Celtic trialist and Rosenborg keeper Geir Karlsen. Also Jim Baillie who played at right midfield for Dunfermiline had been on Celtic's books in season 1964-65 and had been released to Alloa. He had just joined the Pars from non-League Leigh.
  • On the same day Celtic defeated Dunfermline 2-0 in a Reserve League match at East End Park. The Celtic team was Williams, J. Davidson, Quinn, McNamara, McDonald, Connelly, Callaghan, Johnstone, V. Davidson, Lynch, O'Hara. Subs Welsh and McAleer. Vic Davidson scored both goals.

Review

Celtic win 6-0 for the second week in succession.

Dunfermline are no match for the trio of Dalglish, Deans and Hood who score a brace each. Every goal was a good goal but the pick was probably Harry Hood's last goal which saw the ball moved from Ritchie to Dalglish to Deans and onto Hood who buried the shot past Karlsen.

Young Ritchie makes his debut and hits a 35 yard rocket which Karlsen just managed to touch round the post.

At the end of the year the table looked like this going into the Rangers game in the New Year. Everone was calling this game a 'league decider' already.
