Trivia
- Celtic had celebrated winning 9-in-a-row two days before, however they could technically have still been caught. This game is actually the one when the ninth successive title was officially sealed.
- Frank Welsh makes a rare appearance at centre-half.
Review
Celtic rested Connaghan, Murray, McNeill, Hood and Johnstone with a view to Saturday’s SCF with Dundee United.
The outcome was a fairly dismal match at Pittodrie. Aberdeen had most of the play and were pinned back into their own half in the first half. The defence was strong enough to hold off the challenge from Aberdeen despite having to soak up lots of pressure.
