  • Danny McGrain had a late fitness test before the party left Celtic Park for Dundee. He failed the test and did not travel.
  • Dalglish allowed extra time off due to World Cup duty. Dalglish, Hunter and Connelly were due to play in a Friendly Reserve game the same night against Albion Rovers (Celtic won 3-2 with a team of Hunter, McNamara, McAleer, MacDonald, Connelly, Little, Casey, Dalglish, Bone, Lynch, Ritchie with Subs of Burns, G McCluskey, Mulholland, Leonard and Murphy. Lynch, Dalgish and Bone with a penalty got the goals).
  • After Extra Time following Dixie Deans late equaliser.
  • Johnstone fielded at inside right (number 8).
  • Jimmy Quinn wears the number 7 although he plays left back with Jim Brogan playing in midfield.
  • Deans comes on and scores dramatic late equaliser to take the game to extra time and Brogan is the unusual hero with the winner.

Review

In the last minute Tommy Gemmell blundered and lost possession to Dixie Deans who scored to make extra time.
Gemmell was again at fault when Johnstone stole possession and cretaed the winner for Brogan.
Scott had two great chances to win when leading but missed most chances.
Celtic took full advantage of the altered offside rule and left Lennox and Wilson up towards the 18 yard line all the time as in the first game against Airdrie.

The other semi saw Rangers beat Hibernian 3-2 at Easter Rd .
Celtic now to play Rangers at Hampden on Saturday in the final.
