Review

8/1 shots Kilmarnock came close to causing an upset at Parkhead. Only Latchford's fine saves prevented a Killie win. Roddy MacDonald scored a fine late equaliser but Killie's winger Davie Provan was easily the best player on the park. A poor performance from Celtic.

Kilmarnock took the lead when Latchford could only parry a shot from Maxwell and McDowell knocked home. Only Tommy Burns looked up for the fight and the team's response became frantic rather than accurate. Only Latchford denied Killie going further ahead in the second half. With the subs on in the last 10 minutes another high ball into the area and a melee the ball emerging to MacDonald who hit a knee high shot for goal and luckily it went in.

The Bhoys were lucky to win a reprieve.
