Review

Celtic were already 1-0 down from the first leg but within 32 minutes two brilliant McAdam goals had them in front. The first a flashing header from a splendid Provan cross and the second a crashing volley after the referee had played an excellent adavantage for a foul on Alfie Conn. Peter Marinello missed a penalty in 65 minutes but the same player equalised on aggregate in 76 minutes which meant the Celtic team had to push the boat out.

Celtic fought to the end and the experienced Bobby Lennox came on to add more purpose to the attack and it was he who put Celtic in front before a great solo run and finish by big Roy Aitken finally put them through to the semi finals.
