Trivia

  • A Monday night game.
  • Big Shuggie was recovered from his ankle injury and returned in the centre of defence; also fit again after his illness was Mike Conroy; the two to miss out were Tommy Burns and Vic Davidson. In fact all four had faced fitness tests before the game with Burns failing, Conroy and Shuggie making it and Vic Davidson fit enough for the bench. Peter Mackie, who would have been considered, was also out with injury.
  • Mike Conroy's dramatic goal sets up a league title finale against Rangers on Monday 21st May. A win will now give Celtic the title.

Review

Celtic attacked constantly and were becoming frustrated when Conroy scored in 55 minutes with an excellent header from a good Provan cross.
They missed further chances and had a nervous last few minutes because of this.
Davie Provan had another excellent game and was hitting top form at the right time.

McNeill now faces a race to get Roddy MacDonald and Tommy Burns fit for the title decider at Parkhead against Rangers on 21 May.
