Review

A huge crowd turned out on a day of dismal weather and the result was also dismal for Celtic.

Celtic attacked relentlessly and when they broke through the Aberdeen rear guard they found Bobby Clark in fine form. Dom Sullivan was cup tied and Celtic fielded Edvaldsson in the unusual role of striker alongside the veteran Lennox.

Joe Harper was carried off after a tackle from Danny McGrain and this was, sadly, to be the end of Joe's fine career. He was only ever to play a handful of games for the Dons and not until 1981.

Ironically it was Harper's replacement, Mark McGhee, who scored the only goal, when he turned the ball into the net from 6 yards after Willie Garner had headed down a Strachan corner.
