Trivia

  • Celtic had been due to play a Friendly against Queen's Park at Lesser Hampden on the 4th December but the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. The game for the weekend, the 8th December against Dundee away was also postponed after heavy rain made the pitch unplayable at Dens Park.
  • Edvaldsson was recovering from 'flu and only made the bench. McCluskey led the attack with Lennox coming in on the left and Roddy MacDonald restored to central defence. Burns and Doyle were still out injured.
  • Aitken, McGrain and Provan were selected for the Scotland squad to face Belgium.
  • Danny McGrain, never a noted scorer, scores a fine goal and it is controversially disallowed.
  • The Reserves won 4-2 at Firhill with a team of Doyle, Duffy, Lynch, Weir, Young, Casey, Doyle, Davidson, Nicholas, Reid, Halpin. Subs W McStay, Feeney. Pat Bonner was out injured at this time allowing young Michael Doyle in goal. The scorers were Davidson, Duffy, Reid and Lynch.

Review

Celtic scored five, had three cleared off the line, Lennox hit the bar and McGrain had a goal disallowed.

The evergreen Lennox was Celtic's best attacker and new signing Sullivan continues to impress and scores with a fine chip over Alan Rough.
