Review

This game hinged on decision by referee Alan Ferguson in 78 minutes.

McGarvey sent Tommy Burns racing in to the area and as he was about to shoot John Young brought him down. Ferguson ran towards the spot and then ran to his linesman who was further away than he was and then awarded a free kick to Celtic on the very edge of the area.

St Mirren hit the woodwork twice and had their chances while Billy Thomson was unbeatable in the Saints goal when Celts attacked.

The penalty decision left a sour taste on the last game of the season and Aberdeen are now champions.

McNeill vows to repay the fans' loyalty by winning the Scottish Cup and the 1981 title.
