Review:

The team appeared to be still suffering fom Stranraer game. Motherwell’s policy was clear when Fraser Wishart sent a pass back to his keeper from 10yds inside the Celtic half. McAvennie had a good game – led the Celtic attack with skill and courage and showed a tremendous appetite for the game. Mick McCarthy also came thru the game well. Walker got the goal on 61mins, his first since Boxing Day – his goal touch had deserted him.

Quotes

On the Motherwell game Billy McNeill said: “No one will do us any favours on the league run in and Motherwell typifies this.
“They are involved in a battle of their own at the other end of the table and it was evident that they came to Celtic Park looking for a draw.
“They have a very solid defense and I was pleased that we still made several chances although we only took one of them.”
