Review

An indifferent performance against Morton for a 1-0 win needing a 90th minute penalty from Aitken

The team performance described as hesitant, marginally better than the pitiful performance against Stranraer. It seemed as if the team decide to produce form based on the level of the opposition they were up against. The more the game continued the less likely Celtic looked like scoring.

In the first half only a Mark McGhee header troubled the Morton keeper. Celtic enjoyed complete territorial advantage in first half but failed to create any clear cut chances. Morton played a well organised offside trap. At times it looked like both teams were lining up along the half way line. The game livened up in the second half.

With Joe Miller on as a sub Celtic started to create, Roy Aitken often bringing the ball forward. In the last minute the unfortunate Wylie was said to have brought down McAvennie in the box. Despite much protesting from Morton players the penalty stood and Aitken put it away.
