We will be looking back at Tony Mowbray's testimonial for a new series – and we want YOUR memories
Tony Mowbray and Paul Wilkinson Tony Mowbray and Paul Wilkinson

Do you remember when 6,000 Celtic fans swamped Ayresome Park for Tony Mowbray's testimonial?

When herds of Rab C Nesbitts set up a transit camp in Albert Park and off-licences across Middlesbrough sold out?

Boro, newly promoted to the Premier League, gave a decent account of themselves in a lively 1-1 draw.

It was an entertaining game for a friendly – but all the talk afterwards was about the bizarre short-lived flashpoint that came with a pitch invasion by visiting fans waving an Irish tricolour and the responding counter-incursion by angry Boro patriots.

For a second it looked like it could by Bannockburn all over again. Or the Boyne.

It was a fantastic sunny day and a great atmosphere for the start of a new era for Lennie Lawrence's side.

It was a great chance for an all time Boro hero to take the deserved applause of old fans as well as his new.
