Review

Manchester United provided the opposition for the Bhoys in the testimonial for Hoops great Paul McStay on Tuesday December 12th 1995.

It was a sign of how highly McStay was regarded within the game that Sir Alex Ferguson abandoned his usual 'no testimonials' policy to take his United side to Parkhead for the occasion. On a foggy and cold evening Celtic would take the honours with a 3-1 victory. Manchester United wore their infamous grey away kit that was dropped after just two games.

The centre stage was for the wonderful Paul McStay, who himself is quite an introverted character but for once deserved a full match in honour of him both to reflect on his time with the club as much as on his good person as well.
