Gary Kelly Testimonial

GARY KELLY finished up a loser on the pitch but a winner off it at Elland Road last night.
The Leeds and Republic of Ireland full-back pledged the proceeds of his testimonial to cancer charities.
And an estimated £600,000 was raised from a crowd of 26,440.
Kelly, a Celtic Park season-ticket holder, dedicated the game to his sister Mandy, who died of breast cancer four years ago. Celtic, three days after their dramatic 3-2 Scottish Cup final defeat by bitter rivals Rangers, fielded a strong side.
Goals from Alan Thompson and Henrik Larsson put the Scottish champions 2-0 up before Lee Bowyer pulled one back.
But a cracker from John Hartson and a scrambled effort from sub Shaun Maloney sealed it.

Testimonial for Celtic fan Kelly

CELTIC season ticket holder Gary Kelly is eagerly looking forward to facing the team he has supported since a boy when the Scottish champions tackle Leeds United tonight. The clash is Kelly's testimonial and with the Republic of Ireland giving the proceeds to charity, he is hoping for a big crowd.
The Leeds long-serving full-back's sister, Mandy, died from cancer four years ago, so Kelly has pledged to split the proceeds between the cancer charities in Leeds and his hometown of Drogheda, Ireland.
He said: "I am looking forward to the night and I want to thank Martin O'Neill for bringing the team down. "I supported Celtic when I was younger because of the Republic of Ireland link. Now, I have a season ticket and go up when I can.
"I have been to three games this season, including one against Hearts, when I saw my former Leeds team-mate Alan Maybury play. I also watched the Scottish Cup final on Saturday at Ian Harte's house and it was sickening to see the way it ended with Celtic losing. We have sold around 24,000 tickets for tonight but we expect to sell more. Everything we raise will be a bonus."
O'Neill is set to bring his strongest Celtic squad to Elland Road, while Leeds expect to welcome back the injured Michael Bridges and Lucas Radebe as possible second-half substitutes. Bridges has not played for Leeds in 19 months while Radebe's last first-team outing was in March, 2001.

However, Mark Viduka may be forced to miss the clash with his former club after failing to shake off an ankle injury that has kept him out of two games.
Two guest players will be turning out in the testimonial with former captain Gordon Strachan appearing for Leeds, and the former Manchester United defender Paul McGrath playing in Celtic colours.
