Quick Review

Celtic held their hosts to 1-1 at half-time, but a double strike early in the second half proved a decisive blow for the Germans.

Welsh striker John Hartson put Celtic 1-0 up after 12 minutes, but Ivica Banovic equalised within four minutes.

The crucial period came just after the break, when Markus Daun and Ivan Klasnic both struck within six minutes of the restart to give Bremen a 3-1 lead.

In the final 10 minutes Angelos Charisteas – on for Daun – struck the first goal of a frantic closing period.

A minute later Klasnic scored his second before David Fernandez pulled one back for Celtic to make it 5-2.

Banovic, scorer of the equaliser to make it 1-1, then hit the final goal of the match with five minutes to go.
