Embarrassing pre-season tour is over. Whoopings in all the matches. Utter shambles, all hoping this shakes out the worst before the vital games v Clfitonville in the Champs Lge. However…

(Celticjoe of KDS)
Celtic team when we lost that third goal:

Forster; Miller, Irvine, Wilson, Waters; Kayal, Rogic, Atajic, Henderson; Commons, Amido.

This was all about game time for youngsters and resting key players for next week's match against Cliftonville.
In Germany the focus has been on getting fit, avoiding injuries and preparing for the real pre-season.
The games we want to peak for are the Third Qualifying Rounds for the Champions League.
So calm doon.

CELTIC 0

CELTIC'S pre-season tour of Germany was drawn to a close with a 3-0 defeat to Union Berlin in front of a sell-out crowd.

Goals from Simon Terrode in the first-half, and Soren Brandy and Damir Kreilach in the second, marked the opening of the Bundesliga 2 side's renovated stadium in the south of Berlin.

Neil Lennon had named a strong starting XI, welcoming Scott Brown back from injury, while new arrival Jackson Irvine slotted in at centre back.

Amid the electric atmosphere Union Berlin broke the deadlock after a quiet opening spell. Terodde unleashed a curling right-footed volley from the edge of the box, and sending it around Kelvin Wilson it rocketed into the top of the net, giving the home side the advantage on 11 minutes.

And the Germans continued to dominate the early stages, coming especially close again on 24 minutes. Fraser Forster's outstanding two-handed save, however, denied Martin Dausch from doubling Union Berlin's advantage.

Celtic worked their way back into the match after the half hour mark and showed more consistent passing and pressure moving forward.

Kris Commons unleashed an ambitious effort from distance on 32 minutes, but it took a wicked deflection off target. And eight minutes later Tom Rogic attempted a similar effort, which was again blocked for a corner.

Emilio Izaguirre, who had made a crucial clearance in front of Celtic's goal earlier in the half, crossed the ball in for Georgios Samaras shortly before half-time. Fabian Schonheim made a headed clearance, though, sending it narrowly over the bar.

Two minutes later Mikael Lustig came close with a low drive just past the far post before the final attack of the half came from the home side. Again, Izaguirre, got into a good position to kill the danger and denied Soren Brandy from extending Union Berlin's lead.

The striker looked strong at the start of the second-half, though, and punished Celtic for some slack defending just before the hour mark. The ball was sent back into the box following a cleared corner, and Brandy, who broke away from Wilson, slotted home his side's second of the evening.

Celtic remained positive, however, and created an excellent chance on 65 minutes. Anthony Stokes charged to the byline and sent a ball across the face of goal but substitute, Amido Balde, couldn't make contact at the back post.

Irvine then brought Daniel Haas into the match a minute later. He rose high in an attempt to head home but the Union Berlin keeper punched his effort clear.

Some lovely passing play from Beram Kayal and Kris Commons then resulted in the ball being threaded through for Stokes. But his low drive on target was covered by Haas.

The home side then rounded off the victory three minutes from the end with a surge of pressure in the Celtic box. Kreilach rose above everyone at the back post to head home a corner, just seconds after the ball was cracked off the post.

The Hoops will now head home before their trip to Belfast next week for the UEFA Champions League second round qualifier against Cliftonville.
