Celtic had defeated Linfield in last round (6-0), Rosenburg defeated Dundalk (after extra-time 3-2). - Annoyingly not on TV (even Satellite), even on Norwegian TV. Only available via Celtic TV.
- For Celtic: No Griffiths (suspended by UEFA for 'provoking' Linfield fans)or Boyata, Dembele & Sviatchenko out too, Gamboa injured, Izaguirre gone.
- Celtic announce season tickets sold-out. Excellent. 52.5k, first time sold out in 12 years.
- Celtic announce the 'Green Brigade' section of the stadium will be closed for next 2 games after 'serious incidents of unsafe behaviour'. 900 fans in the section locked out, many of whom are not part of the Green Brigade.
- Week has been spent bashing heads due tothe rejection of Rangers title strippingdecision by the SPFL and also on the Green Brigade situation, which has meant this game which should have been the key focus, wasn't.
- A lot of gnashing of teeth over this understandably. SPFL announces it has no legal power to further punish TheRangers over EBTs. So league titles not being stripped away. Disgrace.
- Scotland left-back Andrew Robertson who has joined Liverpool from Hull City for £10m, says he considered walking away from football after being let go by Celtic as a 15-year-old before joining Queen's Park. Congratulations to him. It’s no exact science picking and training youngsters.
- Transfers:
Celtic land cash windfall as Emilio Izaguirre agrees two-year deal with Al-Fayha. All the best to him, a Celtic favoured son. The long-serving full back is set to join the Saudi Arabian side in a £1.25 million deal.

thought our tactics last night were very strange, though no doubt forced by the available players. Why have full backs and wingers/inside forwards hitting the byline and crossing to the back post when there's no-one to cross to? Forrest especially hit the back post with virtually every one of his crosses. KT at least tried to cut backs but Sinclair was at about 30% opacity last night.
The midfield need to hold onto the ball a little longer (where possible). The amount of times Brown got the ball and under no pressure, lofted a (generally accurate tbf) pass out to the flanks. Unfortunately though because no-one had been drawn to Brown, Lustig (generally) ended up facing 2. Draw them in, pull them out of position before you make the pass!
Having no striker obviously caused us a lot of problems and if I were Jack Aitchison I'd be chapping BR's door this morning. Either play me or send me out on loan for me to get first team action. Maybe that's the problem with the lad, maybe he's not chapping on BR's door (literally or metaphorically).

Gordon – Done what was asked of him.
Lustig – got up and down the line well so wasteful from numerous good opportunities to deliver from wide.
Jozo – Looked a bit lethargic compared to end of last season.
Ajer – Done a good job looks a prospect.
Tierney – Thought he was poor tonight.
Brown – Terrible tonight.
Ncham – Couple promising signs but slack passes lost the ball at least 5 or 6 times needlessly.
Forrest – Shocking first half slightly better in 2nd provided nothing in an attacking sense.
Armstrong – Started ok I thought but longer the game went the more he fell out of it. That free kick
Sinclair – Posted Missing. Needs to do more at this level for us.
Rogic – Couldn't get into the game the way he usually does. Very strange decision to start him up front in the first place.
0-0 – In the end a half decent result in the sense that we were piss poor and they should have scored at least 1 away goal.
On a brighter note we can't play much worse than we did tonight over there and fingers crossed an away goal will be enough to get us through.

Celtic’s bid to reach the Champions League group stages stuttered with a goalless draw against Rosenborg in the first leg of their third-round qualifier at Parkhead.
The Hoops played without a recognised centre forward due to injury and suspension – midfielder Tom Rogic was ostensibly the furthest man in attack – and they missed a focal point in an encounter where the visiting keeper Andre Hansen had little to do.
Indeed, the Norwegian side created the better chances and Celtic keeper Craig Gordon made several saves to give the Scottish champions, big favourites for the tie, at least a clean sheet to take into the second leg.
The suspended Leigh Griffiths will be available for the return game at the Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim next Wednesday if he recovers from a calf injury – Moussa Dembele’s hamstring injury could keep him out until September – and boss Brendan Rodgers will need more firepower from somewhere if his side are to clinch a play-off spot.
With centre-back Erik Sviatchenko failing a fitness test, and injured Dedryck Boyata out long-term, 19-year-old Norwegian Kristoffer Ajer was handed his first start after returning from a loan spell at Kilmarnock last season.
His previous appearance came 12 months ago as a second-half substitute in the 3-0 home win over Lincoln Red Imps
Former Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner led the line for Rosenborg, who needed extra-time to get past Republic of Ireland’s Dundalk in the previous qualifier.
With the ultras-style fan group the Green Brigade banned from Celtic Park for two matches after ‘’serious incidents of unsafe behaviour’’ at Celtic’s previous two home games, the rest of the home support took it upon themselves to gee up the Scottish champions but it was tough going.
As expected Celtic dominated the early possession but it became clear that the lack of a spearhead was proving problematic, despite some nice build-up play.
Midfielder Stuart Armstrong had a shot blocked in the ninth minute after drifting into the box to take a delightful Olivier Ntcham pass and Rogic just could not get the loose ball under control.
The Eliteserien leaders, 17 games into their season, threatened in their occasional forays and in the 21st minute Milan Jevtovic got behind left-back Kieran Tierney, his angled-drive blocked by Ajer for a corner which came to nothing before Gordon turned over an attempt by Anders Konradsen from 14 yards.
Rosenborg manager Kare Ingebrigtsen would have been happy with the goalless first-half and would have been a whole lot happier had Vegar Eggen Hedenstad’s whipped-in free-kick early after the restart gone under the bar and not tipped over by the Scotland keeper.
The Norwegian side should have taken the lead in the 61st minute when a loose pass by skipper Scott Brown was taken by Bendtner but when Jevtovic eventually set up Yann Erik de Lanlay 12 yards from goal, he blasted over.
Seconds later, inside a nervy Celtic Park, Bendtner forced Gordon into a decent save with a drive and at the other end, as the Hoops upped the tempo, James Forrest drilled a shot inches past the far post.
However, in another Rosenborg attack, captain Mike Jensen set up Bendtner 12 yards out but he missed his kick completely, ensuring another let-off for the Glasgow side.
Gordon blocked a drive from substitute Elbasan Rashani in injury time before the final whistle confirmed that Celtic still have a bit to do next week if they are to take the next step towards the coveted group stages.

Tom Rogic started in an advanced position in the absence of Dembele and Griffiths As a consequence they lacked presence up front. They had, for an hour, midfielder Tom Rogic as a de facto front man but he never looked comfortable. In truth, none of Celtic's attacking players looked effective until late in the day.
They were denied space and chances by a smothering Rosenborg, who played deep and snuffed out Celtic's dangerous runners. Scott Sinclair barely got a kick. Fellow wide man Forrest looked hesitant for large parts of the night.
Brendan Rodgers' team had most of the ball but opportunities were thin on the ground. Forrest had a couple of weak shots blocked and then a header easily cleared. He should have had more of those moments.
In between, Milan Jevtovic and Anders Konradsen reminded their hosts that though they were living off scraps they still posed a threat.
What was massively frustrating for the vast and noisy home crowd was Celtic's inability not just to score but to trouble the Rosenborg goalkeeper. Andre Hansen did not have a save to make for the longest time. Indeed, when a save was required it was Gordon who made it, clawing away a rasping Hedenstad set piece.
Spectators would have expected Celtic to find themselves at some point but on the restart it was Rosenborg who made all the running.
Hedenstad had that free-kick, then the visitors carved out of a magnificent chance, passing their way through a confused home defence. When the ball came to De Lanlay he was at point-blank range. Celtic Park held its breath. De Lanlay scooped it over when he ought to have scored. An enormous let off for the hosts.
Jonny Hayes came on for Olivier Ntcham at that point and Celtic got back on the front foot. Forrest fired one narrowly wide and just when it seemed like they might be building towards something they gave up another huge chance at the other end.
Mike Jensen created it and once more it was Bendtner on the end of it. Just as he did earlier, he made a hash of it. The big striker held his head in his hands in the aftermath.
He was not the only one. Most Celtic fans were doing exactly the same for entirely different reasons.
Incredibly, Celtic's first attempt on target came in the 77th minute when Armstrong forced a save from Hansen.
With time almost up, Rosenborg had another massive chance when De Lanlay's replacement Vilhjalmsson almost beat Gordon from close range only for the goalkeeper to kick away his effort. Another gobsmacking episode for the home support.
A goalless draw ahead of next week's trip to the Lerkendal Stadion was more than they deserved.
Rodgers will be praying that Griffiths makes it. It's painfully early in Celtic's season, but they have already arrived at a pivotal moment.
