CELTIC…7

SHAMROCK ROVERS…0

CELTIC cruised to a comfortable 7-0 win over Shamrock Rovers in Dublin as Brendan Rodgers’ side rounded off their final friendly in style before traveling to Armenia next week for the start of their Champions League qualification.
Moussa Dembele scored his second goal in two games when he opened the scoring early in the opening stages before his countryman Odsonne Edouard doubled the lead midway through the half. Callum McGregor added a third with a cool finish before Edouard grabbed his second just before half-time.
The Hoops build on their four goal lead in the second half with a further three including a second for McGregor, one for Scott Sinclair and a debut goal for Lewis Morgan.
Celtic looked comfortable throughout the game and showed some promising attacking playing from a variety of areas. Kieran Tierney was on typical fine form and provided the assist for the opening goal by using his pace and excellent footwork to great effect.
The young Hoops full-back linked up well with Olivier Ntcham throughout the first-half too with the Frenchman providing additional attacking options by overlapping with Tierney.
Callum McGregor was a constant threat in midfield and tormented Shamrock Rovers with his neat footwork and willingness to run at the opposition.
Brendan Rodgers will be pleased to see the attacking duo of Dembele and Edouard play together so well up front. Both strikers linked up well throughout the first half and created numerous opportunities to increase the lead further. They also showed a good awareness to play off the attacks from midfield provided by Ntcham and McGregor.
The manager made wholesale changes around 15 minutes into the second half with only Eboue Kouassi, who had replaced Scott Brown at half-time, remaining on the pitch.
It took Celtic some time to find their rhythm again given the changes but soon enough the Hoops resumed the attacking play which they had dominated the first period with and added to their goal tally.
Much of that came from the wings with Mikey Johnston threating out on the right with his direct play and pace. Sinclair looked high on confidence too and scored an excellent goal after creating a good one-two with Ryan Christie.
Morgan then rounded off proceedings with a wonderful piece of individual play which led to his first goal for Celtic. The 21-year-old picked up the ball in Celtic’s half and initiated a surging counter attack, using his pace to out run an opposition defender as he ran the from the half way line before slotting the ball beyond the keeper.
