Trivia
- Queen`s Park had been going through a purple patch beating Rangers to win the Glasgow Cup and then going to Ibrox and repeating the dose but here….
- Kicking off at half past two was a dicey thing to do with sunset in Glasgow that day due at quarter to four AND it wasn`t a pleasant, sunny day so perhaps the game didn`t last the full 90 minutes.
Review
Dan McArthur saved Celtic. Queen`s Park threw everything at the Celtic goal in the opening 45 minutes and the mighty Dan saved almost the lot. Ironically, Celtic took the lead when their forwards scrimmaged through a Jack Bell corner but when Willie Stewart sprinted past Davie Storrier and sent in a cross shot the scores were level. Dyke Berry`s powerful shot put the Spiders in front but a Robert Baird mistake let the Parkhead side back in when he dashed out of goal, mishandled the ball which fell nicely for Bell to net. Davie Wilson`s sublime skills set up Bob McColl who sent in a cracker which even McArthur couldn`t stop. Queen`s tired in the second half due to their first half pace and Bell sent in a beauty from the wing which Baird couldn`t stop and then he lost out to a Willie Orr effort from outside the penalty zone. No disgrace but no cigar or Hit’s muckle cry an little oo,” = a lot of effort has been applied for little reward.
