Review

On a sunny day the big Celtic support cannot believe that Celts lost this game. Celtic hit the woodwork 3 times (Burns, Glavin, Casey) and missed numerous chance and ex Celt Vic Davidson rubs salt in the wounds by scoring a spectacular late winner from 25 yards.

With a draw and two losses from the first three games of the season, and more importantly, since the departure of Dalglish, there was now the direct sense that something was not right. Stein said he would not be rushed into buying and that identifying the target was more important. The 'target' should have been all too clear – another Dalglish!
The fact that there were other important players out only confounded the matter. This game developed into a midfield struggle and when Celtic did break Motherwell down they couldn't hit the barn door for the frame around it.

The fans on the terraces were also 'not amused'.
