SummaryAiden McGeady 2009

The McGeady Spin is a legacy of the talents of Aiden McGeady who in his time at various of his clubs, split those supports in his achievements & ability, yet no one can deny his talent, and The McGeady Spin is a clear example of his talent in practise that amazes all.

Across football, he has a move now tagged to him which lit every game in which he actioned the move.
The move involved when the attacker was being tackled by upto two opposition players, he would bamboozle the opposition players by playing the ball off one foot and the next, and then turning the whole move inside out and spinning round, leaving the defenders for dead and lighting up any game. Usually executed by wingers when in the corners of the pitch.

It was a term coined in the UK and then adopted across all football, and has been attempted by many but few are able to make it payoff like McGeady could.

A more detailed view is that: it involves dragging the ball behind the standing foot instead of to the side during the first phase, and then using the outside of the boot in instead of the sole, and spinning round usually when against two opposition players leaving them for dead.

It was wonderful when it came off, and across the football world was much tried but few ever succeeded. It is quite a skill to pull it off.
Plenty of YouTube videos out there for all to see and try their luck in copying it.
