I played all my boys club football with Celtic boys club,and have my late Father Joe to thank for driving me from Denny all that time.
I signed s form at the age 14, then provisional for one year being farmed out to Boness. In 1977 I was ‘called up’ and spent the next two years as a full time pro.
Celtic Football Club is much more than a football Club. Its a family,and that family extends to all who embrace it. I had the honour to play with,and rub shoulders with people like Tommy Burns,Bobby Lennox,Charlie Nicholas, and play under Jock Stein, Billy McNeill and John Clark.
Such is the culture at Celtic, You not only get an education in football, you gain an education in life. I was a player who was involved for 5 or 6 years and never ‘made it’ but always felt apart of it.
And I will always be thankfull that I was given the chance to live my dream.
I can honestly say with my hand on my heart, that I never once walked through the front door in Kerrydale Street when I never had
‘butterflies’ It evokes that much emotion! Willie Wallace ( Lisbon Lion ) signed me in 1982 for an Australian National League side and I have been in Sydney ever since, finishing my professional career in 1994.
