The format for the League Cup was changed this season. Up to this point there had been a four team nine group Group Stage where each team played the other home and away (apart from Group 9) leading to a quarter final stage. This season the games were spread out through the first part of the season without a Group Stage with the semi finals and final being played in the latter half of the season.
