Denis O’Hare was born on Saturday, 21st January, 1900, in Renton, West Dunbartonshire.

The 5′ 7½ (11st 6lbs) defender signed for George Easton’s Thistle on Monday, 15th May, 1922, having most recently been with St Anthony’s.

Aged 22, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 9th September, 1922, in a 2-1 win at home to Ayr United in the SFL First Division.

There were no goals for Denis during his time with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 19th August, 1930, in a 1-1 draw at home to Rangers in a Benefit match, having clocked up an impressive 237 appearances as a Jag.

His club-list included Vale of Leven Juniors, St Anthony’s, Partick Thistle, Third Lanark, Celtic, Cork and Cercle Athlétique de Paris.

Denis died in 1982, in West Dunbartonshire, aged 82. *

A product of Vale of Leven Juniors and St Anthony’s, Denis was a top-quality right back with Partick Thistle for most of the 1920s, and received a gold medal as a Glasgow Charity Cup winner in 1927, the final being won versus Rangers by 6 goals to 3! Denis was awarded a testimonial match in September 1928, a 3-3 draw with Celtic at Firhill. Celtic manager Willie Maley had him on his radar for a few years, especially after his performances in Thistle’s Dental Hospital Cup win in 1928 and in the Scottish Cup final of 1930 in which Thistle took Rangers to a replay. Maley snapped him up when he became available mid-way through the 1930-31 season, however, he remained a reserve at Parkhead. Although selected for the 1931 tour of the USA and Canada, he seems to have been released before the party embarked. Later played for Cercle Athlétique de Paris!
