Match report from The Scotsman, 20th April 1920

[…] This League game,, at Easter Road, Edinburgh, yesterday attracted 15,000 spectators. The Celtic were without McMenemy and Gallagher, but at the start, and indeed all through the first halfm they had a firm grip of the game, and after ten minutes’ play, and then five minutes later, they got goals by McInally, the second being obtained through a muddle-up between Shaw, who was playing at back, and Stevenson, the goalkeeper. After that the Celtic had practically all the play, but they could not score agian, and they were inclined to indulge in too much in fancy play, under the beliefm no doubt, that they had safely won the points. An d so it seemed. But the Hibernians played with great spirit in the second half, and after they had reduced the lead to a goal, got by Young after Ritchie had beaten McNair and put across a good centre, they gave the Celtic a fright, and more than once came near to obtaining the equaliser. During this half, when heavy rain fell, the Hibernians put up a plucky fight, but, taking the game all over, the Celtic were worthy winners.
