Poems – The Flagpole’s Serenade

O wrap the League Flag round me, boys,

On high for all to see;

For it’s the emblem that should mark

The Celtic Jubilee.

Tho’ countless heroes Time has claimed,

And dimmed the stars that shone,

their needs shall never be forgot.

The spirit that lingers on.

So wrap the League Flag round me, boys –

In proper destiny

To crown the last and glorious year

Of half a century.

And when the Exhibition comes,

O Scotia’s proud array,

Let football be her greatest art,

And Celts Exhibit ‘A’.
