Henry Quinn was spotted by Jock Stein while playing for St Mirren in 1965.

A Scottish schoolboy international and inside forward, he was signed as 15 year old by Burnley in 1962 but returned to Scotland and St Mirren after a bout of homesickness.

Quinn found it hard to break into the Lisbon Lions team and spent two years at Celtic playing for the reserves but never made the first team. He then signed for Clyde but the following year joined Dundee Utd.

A year later he joined St Pat's in Dublin and was their leading goalscorer in his first season. He then retired from the game.

Henry Quinn passed away in August 2008.

"I attended the funeral of my uncle today…Henry Quinn..thought long and hard before posting this thread.because Henry was quite shy as footballers go..he won a few international schoolboy caps at different levels..played against England, Portugal, Germany and Holland..was signed by Burnley at the age of 15 but was homesick and came back home..then moved onto St Mirren and was signed by Jock Stein and played in the reserves for 2 seasons,,pretty hard to break into the lisbon lions team at that time from Celtic he moved to Clyde and again spent a couple of seasons there. Henry then moved to Dublin St Pats and became the leading goalscorer in the league for that season..finally decided to work for a living after that until a few weeks ago..when he became seriously ill and sadly passed away last Sunday..hope no one minds me posting this..but I was proud of my uncle and felt that a few words wouldn't do any harm..thanks"
