Trivia

  • Drybrough Cup background and details
  • The interest in the Drybrough Cup upped a notch when it was clear after the semis that Celtic would face Rangers in the final at Hampden.
  • The game had been in doubt due to a threat of strike action from the Players Union. The game was to be televised with the SFA and SFL receiving the cost of the television rights. When the Players Union heard of this they wanted a proportion of the fee paid into the Players Benevolent Fund and failure to do so would stop the game. After talks all sides came to an agreement and the game went ahead.
  • A number of fans were arrested before and after the game and up before the beaks in the morning with one Rangers serial offender given 60 days jail.
