Trivia

  • Jimmy Delaney's muscle-strain injury mars Celtic's performance at Falkirk.
  • Bob Shankly one of the famous footballing brothers from Glenbuck played in this match (See Match Pictures).
  • Aston Villa's Scots defender Cummings and new forward Frank O'Donnell go to Stoke where the home side's Stanley Matthews stars in a 3-1 win.
  • Following the murder of a German Embassy official in Paris by a 17-year old Jew. A widespread campaign of attacks on Jews and Jewish businesses took place in Germany. This was called Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass. Following condemnation of this program by the western media, Dr Goebbels, in a speech declared that the "hatred in the foreign press does not worry us." He added, "Germany is safe, and no one will be permitted to protest if we fight these troublesome parasites."
