Trivia

  • Although Bobby Hogg and Hugh O'Neill defended stoutly they could not stop Wood and outside-left Alex Smith from scoring to give Motherwell victory.
  • Hearts surprised the football world last night by announcing that they had secured the services of former Celtic "stars" the brothers Frank and Hugh O'Donnell and the players will feature in the Scottish Emergency Cup replay against Airdrie at Tynecastle. Joe Carruth of Celtic was drafted in for an earlier replay, which was abandoned through bad light. The O'Donnell brothers were transferred to Preston North End in May, 1935.
  • Enemy planes were driven away from the Orkney Islands without a bomb being dropped. British fighters and anti-aircraft fire did the job.
