Jock Stein.
"We can do better. We know that and we will be trying to do better on Wednesday night. But we are not blind here. We were beaten by a good team and the Dundee Utd players deserve the credit for playing so well."
About the team to face Motherwell.
"Its too early to say yet but there will definetly be no wholesale sackings. We put out what we thought was our best team in the circumstances and if I made a lot of changes after just one game that would be an admission that the team selection was bad.
"I would definetly wait till I see John Hughes and Joe McBride back in the side before I make any firm judgement.
"Joe is coming along but it is too early to say if he will play on Wednesday."
