Review

Celtic got the ball rolling and Dalglish produced a sparkling run beating three men before laying the ball off to Paul Wilson whose cross was touched in by Jinky. More chances followed but gradually Dumbarton crept back into the game. Deans persistence paid off and five minutes before half time he got his goal when he hammered a shot past McGregor. Two minutes later McGregor had to be sharp to stop him getting a second.
Willie Wallace scored with a penalty for Dumbarton in the second half and showed great touches throughout.

Ally Hunter made a great save from Tom McAdam at 2-1 to ensure Celtic took the points. Jock Stein had only told him he was playing 40 minutes before kick off to get a response from him.

Dalglish scored the clincher with a great waist high volley.
