Trivia

  • Wholesale changes for the game. Back in came Pat McCluskey and Dixie Deans and Jackie McNamara won his first start since the League Cup campaign with Roddie MacDonald at centre half.
  • 18 year old Graham Barclay plays his only ever game in goal for Celtic.Stein was clearly unhappy with the goalkeeping situation despite Hunter having played well against Dumbarton.
  • More notable really were the absences – Billy McNeill left out, Jim Brogan out, Ronnie Glavin out even after a run out at East Fife, and Callaghan and Johnstone on the bench. Stevie Murray was captain for the day.
  • Clydebank were having a good run in the second division having been beaten only twice in their last 15 games.
  • Celtic draw Dumbarton at Boghead in the next round.
  • Roddy MacDonald's first goal for Celtic.
  • Highlights were shown on Scotsport next day.
