Review

Celtic lined up in a 5-2-3 formation which was more like 4-3-4 with McNamara, McCluskey and Glavin in midfield, Edvaldsson and MacDonald in central defense with McGrain and Lynch as full backs.
Finn Harps presented a much stronger challenge to Celtic than had Dundalk in the previous game with the Harps controlling the pace of the game and it was only in the final stages of the game that Celtic managed to push the game forward as they wanted it. Ritchie, on as sub for Paul Wilson produced the best chance of the game cutting in from the left and sending in a powerful shot against the post. Before that Lennox had a good chance to put Celtic ahead in the first half but headed wide. Edvaldsson should have scored in the second when he was one-on-one with the keeper. Peter Latchford was impressive in goal and was called upon several times to keep the clean sheet.
