- With all the teams in the League Cup group on the same points it was essential to pull the results together after the dispiriting loss to Hearts. Sean Fallon took the squad away to Seamills to train and sort a few things out.
- Sean Fallon delayed naming the team till the Saturday. Dixie Deans was still out on suspension. Jackie McNamara was preferred in the end to Harry Hood who dropped to the bench.

Review
Trouble flared up both on and off the park in a number of games throughout Scotland. At Celtic Park – it was all sweetness and light!!
Dalglish may have had his mind on a possible transfer and contract negotiaitions but it failed to affect his performance as he beat three players to create Wilson's opening goal. Bobby Lennox added a second goal soon after this.
In the second half Edvaldsson scores with a raging shot to impress the fans. Everyone is now seeing Edvaldsson as McNeill reborn with natural ability, strong defensive ability and the ability to score the occasional goal.
Dalglish was fortunate when no action was taken after he appeared to strike Cushley after a crude challenge from the Dumbarton defender.
