Trivia

  • Kenny Dalglish who had picked up an injury at the Birmingham Centennary match was fit again and played. Paul Wilson was back from suspension and came in instead of George McCluskey.
  • It's a sign of the times as the fans are segregated on the big Tannadice enclosure for the first time. They are separated by Police with dogs until a new fence can be built in due course.
  • Chelsea say they still owe Celtic £40,000 from the David Hay transfer. Rumours rife that Celtic interested in taking Hay back but comes to nothing.

Review

A very cold afternoon. The Tannadice pitch was treacherous with an icy coating and both penalty areas were sanded and bare of grass.

Despite that the teams had a great game. Deans scored after McAlpine lost a Dalglish shot and Lynch scored with a long range shot on the uneven surface.

With Celtic holding on Lennox scored a great third when he intercepted a United throw and dashed into the area to score with a fine shot.

Nip and tuck at the top of the Premier Division.
