Review

Kenny Dalglish and Danny McGrain were withdrawn to go to he Scotland training camp for the home internationals. Fallon fielded another inexperienced team and lost narrowly.
Tommy Callaghan diverted a Jimmy Brown shot past Latchford. Deans limped off early in the second half to be replaced by Paul Wilson.

There was no segregation in the covered enclosure and serious crowd trouble broke out even although the attendance was a lowly 9000.

Hearts fans stayed at the end to acclaim their players who had lost to Rangers at Hampden the previous Saturday in the Scottish cup final.
