  • Leigh Griffiths on the bench surprised many, still questions on fitness it seems. No Rogic or Boli at all!
  • El-hamed back playing.
  • Doulbe for Klimala who highly impressed (albeit stealing a goal from Griffiths).
  • Hearts and Partick Thistle will be in the Scottish Championship and League One respectively this season after an arbitration panel decided not to overturn their challenges to their relegation. Summary

(insidethespfl on twitter)
Good work out in that first half from both teams, hardly a revelation but Ntcham is by far the most talented player on the pitch, Soro & McInroy doing alright, two very clever well taken finishes from Doig and Karamoko.

Celtic were by far the better of the two sides in the second half after Lennon made subs and changed the formation, some good performances from Ntcham, Soro, McInroy & Karamoko, Griffiths looked in good condition & Klimala’s nonstop work ethic paid off with a couple of late goals

Josh Doig scored a brilliant volley for the Hibees and worked hard down the left all day, Daryl Horgan also put in a good shift and had a couple of good chances/brilliant delivieries that probably should’ve caused Celtic more harm than they did.

Good work out for both sides.

CELTIC fought back from a goal down to win 3-1 against Hibernian at Paradise. Leigh Griffiths helped turn the game around for the champions in their final pre-season match before this weekend’s season opener.

The visitors took an early lead through Josh Doig before Karamoko Dembele levelled for Celtic just before the break. Patryk Klimala rounded off an excellent piece of play from Griffiths to put Celtic in front before heading in the third goal.

The first chance for Celtic came after nearly 10 minutes when Kerr McInroy swung a good ball in from the left wing for Ewan Henderson. The midfielder did well to direct his header downwards and across goal but Hibs keeper Kevin Dabrowski produced a good save to deny the Hoops an early goal.

The Polish stopper was tested again less than a minute later when Karamoko Dembele cut inside from the right wing and drilled a shot on target from 20 yards. The young forward’s effort was too close to the keeper, though, and he was able to save comfortably.

Celtic maintained the attacking pressure on their opponents and created a great goalscoring opportunity a couple of minutes later. Captain for the day, Olivier Ntcham threaded a neat pass through for Scott Robertson, but the 19-year-old could only find the side-netting with his effort.

The visitors responded to the flurry of chances with one of their own and managed to take the lead in the 14th minute. Daryl Horgan ran in behind the Hoops defence and chipped a cross from the byline which Doig finished well with a right-footed volley.

Ntcham came close to an equaliser with a curling left-footed effort from the edge of the area and Klimala looked set to pull the trigger inside the penalty area before Adam Jackson’s last-ditch slidding tackle knocked the ball out for a corner. Dembele saw another effort take a deflection en route to goal and Hatem Elhamed’s header from a corner wasn’t far off target.

The perseverance paid off just before half-time, however, when Celtic got the equaliser their play had merited. Ntcham slipped a pass through the Hibs defence and Dembele coolly tucked the ball into the bottom corner.

Celtic started the second half on the front foot with Patryk Klimala coming close on two occasions early on. Luca Connell picked out the striker on the edge of the box and his first touch created enough space to get a shot off, but Jackson was able to make a crucial block. Klimala was then denied by the post from the resulting corner after doing well to win the header.

Leigh Griffiths replaced Ewan Henderson just before the hour mark and the Hoops striker almost scored within seconds of his introduction. Connell chipped a wonderful ball over the top of the Hibs defence for Griffiths to run on to. He knocked the bouncing ball away from the onrushing keeper, but defender David Gray managed to sweep in and poke clear the danger.

Ntcham almost fired Celtic in front in the 70th minute with a powerful right-footed strike from the edge of the area but Dabrowski saved well. Connell followed up with an attempt of his own from distance shortly after but he couldn’t keep his shot down.

Celtic enjoyed the bulk of possession throughout the remainder of the game and continued searching for another goal. It eventually came thanks to a wonderful piece of skill from Griffiths. Dembele won possession inside the opposition half and immediately feed the ball into the path of Griffiths. He dribbled his way into the Hibs penalty area and evaded a challenge from Jackson with some neat footwork before lifting the ball over the keeper. Klimala knocked the ball home on the line.

Griffiths was denied a goal one minute later when the keeper saved his right-footed shot from just inside the box. Celtic’s third came from the corner which Griffiths swung in to the near post. Anthony Ralston knocked it across goal and Klimala was on hand at the back post to head it in.

Celtic 3 (Dembele 41, Klimala 78, 83). Hibernian 1 (Doig 14)

Leigh Griffiths served notice he is ready to resuscitate his Celtic career yet again after a sparkling half-hour contribution which earned the Scottish champions victory over Hibs.

In what was a worthwhile exercise for both teams at Celtic Park, impressive Hibs teenager Josh Doig put Jack Ross’ side ahead before 17-year-old prodigy Karamoko Dembele levelled for the hosts.

Neither side fielded full-strength line-ups in their latest friendly ahead of the Premiership kick-off this weekend but there were encouraging aspects in their respective performances for both managers.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon would be especially gratified with the lively display of Griffiths, back in the first team fold after being left out of the squad’s pre-season trips to Loughborough and France after reporting back unfit following lockdown.

Griffiths’ response since being publicly criticised by Lennon has been positive and he looked in good physical condition as he made his entrance just before the hour mark.

After almost scoring with his first touch, Griffiths set up two goals for Patryk Klimala as Celtic overcame a Hibs line-up composed of a mixture of experience and youth.

Kevin Dabrowski, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Cowdenbeath, has yet to make a competitive first team appearance for Hibs but the 22-year-old Polish goalkeeper took the opportunity here to suggest he can be relied upon as reliable back-up to Ofir Marciano in the new season.

Dabrowski distinguished himself with a fine save to keep out Ewan Henderson’s header in the ninth minute and also held a low, skidding shot from Dembele as Celtic pressed in the opening exchanges.

Scott Robertson missed another good chance, guiding the ball wide of Dabrowski’s right hand post, before Doig put Hibs in front with a fine strike.

Darryl Horgan collected a pass from Ben Stirling on the right and the Irish striker’s cross found Doig in space on the left of the Celtic penalty area. Barely breaking stride, the teenager guided a first time volley beyond the left hand of Conor Hazard into the corner of the net.

It sparked an enterprising period of play from Hibs and Jamie Gullan might have done better than drag the ball harmlessly across the face of the six yard box after Horgan had found him with a neat reverse pass.

As Celtic responded, the trickery and sublime ball control of Dembele began to trouble the Hibs defence. Lennon was out of his technical area claiming loudly for a penalty when Dembele went down under a Paul Hanlon challenge but referee Euan Anderson wasn’t convinced.

Dembele then saw a netbound shot deflected for a corner from which Hatem Elhamed wastefully headed wide when left unattended by the Hibs central defenders.

An equaliser looked on the cards and it arrived four minutes before half-time. Melker Hallberg was caught in possession just outside the Hibs penalty area by Olivier Ntcham who threaded a pass which Dembele collected before coolly steering a left foot shot beyond the helpless Dabrowski.

Hibs threatened to regain the lead two minutes later with a typically swerving and fizzing long range effort from Stevie Mallan which Hazard managed to divert wide.

The teams traded chances at the start of the second half, Horgan and Fraser Murray forcing saves from Hazard while Klimala hit the woodwork for Celtic.

A brilliant counter attack from Hibs saw Doig come close to scoring again, his shot turned wide by Hazard, before Griffiths made his presence felt.

He latched onto Dembele’s pass and skipped past Adam Jackson before chipping the ball over Dabrowski. The ball looked to be going in and Griffiths wasn’t exactly appreciative of Klimala’s decision to make sure with a final touch almost on the line.

Griffiths was the provider again for Klimala, now a rival for a first team place, when his corner was headed home by the Polish striker from close range.
