Henry Smith – Barnes added a ”thank you” to former Hearts’ keeper Henry Smith who had helped Celtic out on a short-term basis over the past two weeks, saying: ”Henry was a great help and we owe him our gratitude for the time he spent with us.”

Groundsmen

Charlie McCann – groundsman at Celtic Park and Barrowfield for a number of years until around 1996 or 97
Charlie Docherty – in 1959 and 70 years old, was the chief groundsman and “far and away the longest serving member of Celtic’s staff.” He was the son-in-law of former trainer and groundsman Willie Quinn. The other groundsman at the time was H. Docherty “no relation.”

Alexander Maley – Brother of Tom & Willie and was a scout for Celtic. He also managed Clyde and Hibs. In cesis of late 1800’s he’s noted as being an “athletic outfitter”

Eddie McGarvie: (1923-26/9): “It is with deep regret that we record the recent death of Eddie McGarvie, who was our trainer from 1923 until he set up business on his own in 1929.Eddie was a real expert in the treatment of injuries and in keeping the players in tip top condition, and during his period the team were among the honours every year.(1953)

Alec Dowdalls (1940-56) – Left in July 1956 after 16 years to join Leicester. Was also a trainer for Scotland
Willie Johnstone – First Team Trainer (1956 – 1961) – left Celtic by mutual accord 15/5/61
Bob Rooney (1961-64)- came from Cambuslang Rangers and initially assistant to Willie Johnstone then appointed full trainer after Johnstone left the club.
Neil Mochan (1964 – 94) Although given the title “kit controller” or something like that around the time when wee Fergus arrived, he was pretty much “hands on” with the first team up until his death in 94
