1912: Jimmy Quinn scores a hat-trick as Celtic defeat Rangers 3-0 in a league match at Parkhead.

1938: Highest attendance at Celtic Park, 82,500 V Rangers Scottish League Division One.

1952: Disturbances at Rangers v Celtic match leads to Celtic being ordered to take down Irish Flag by SFA. Celtic refuse and take a stand, and win.

1969: Robert Kelly, Celtic chairman, is knighted in the New Year’s Honours List.

2nd 1998: Celtic defeat Rangers 2-0 at Parkhead thanks to goals from Craig Burley and Paul Lambert. The impressive and well deserved victory is a key moment in the battle to stop the Huns achieving 10-in-a-row.

2011: A double from Georgios Samaras gives Celtic a deserved and crucial 2-0 victory over Rangers at Ibrox

3rd  1966: Celtic demolish Rangers 5-1 in a league match at Celtic Park. Stevie Chalmers leads the way with a hat-trick.

2004: Celtic defeat Rangers 3-0, with a record 18th successive league win.

4th  1964: Celtic thrash Falkirk 7-0 with Stevie Chalmers netting a hat-trick. Newspaper headline is “Bairns given a spanking”
5th 1963: Tommy Gemmell makes his Celtic debut in a 5-1 victory at Aberdeen. Newspaper gets his name wrong calling him “Peter Gemmell”!

2015: Kilmarnock 0-2 Celtic; Monday night match Goals by the unlikely duo of Izaguirre & Scepovic! Guidetti dumped to the bench for just being himself!

6th 1906: Celtic thump Falkirk 7-0 in a league tie at Celtic Park.

1945: Celtic thump Morton 6-1 in league

2007: Celtic win 4-0 v Dumbarton in Scottish Cup.

7th 1967: Celtic hammer Dundee 5-1 in the league to start 1967 with a bang!

1987: Michael McGlinchey born in Wellington, New Zealand.

8th 1983: Celtic defeat St Mirren 1-0, with Murdo scoring Celtic’s 100th goal of the season with a volley!

2002: Celtic hammer Alloa Athletic 5-0.

2006: Roy Keane makes his Hoops debut but Celtic crash out of the Scottish Cup with a shock 2-1 defeat at Clyde

2012: Celtic win 3-0 in the Scottish Cup in rare appearance v Peterhead, hat-trick by Stokes.

9th 1897: Celtic crash 4-2 at minnows Arthurlie in the Scottish Cup

1943: Hibs hammer Celtic 4-0 in the wartime league

1981: Marc Crosas born, Sant Feliu de Guíxols, Girona, Catalonia

2005: Celtic defeat Rangers 2-1 in the Scottish Cup, with John Hartson celebrating his new deal with a goal.

10th 1882: James ‘Sunny Jim’ Young born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.

1931: Celtic hammer East Fife 9-1 in the league. Jimmy McGrory goes “nap” scoring five goals, but the star billing goes to Peter Scarff, who has a hat-trick and apparently a hand in everything good that Celtic do.

11th 1977: Celtic beat Rangers 1-0 in a rearranged game from the new year period. A Colin Jackson OG wins it for the Celts.

1995: Pierre Van Hooijdonk marks his Celtic debut with a goal as the Bhoys draw 1-1 with Hearts in a ‘home’ league clash at Hampden.

12th 1966: Celtic take their first major scalp in Europe with a 3-0 European Cup-Winners Cup quarter final home triumph over Dynamo Kiev.
13th 1875: Early Celtic great Barney Battles born in Springburn

1962: Celtic defeat Dundee United 5-4 in a topsy turvey clash at Tannadice. The Bhoys had led 5-1 with less than 25 minutes to go.

14th  1928: Jimmy McGrory hits a record breaking eight goals as Celtic destroy Dunfermline 9-0 in a league match at Parkhead.

1965: Bertie Auld re-joins Celtic from Birmingham City for £12,000

1967: The Celtic XI which would go on to be renowned as the Lisbon Lions make their first ever appearance together as a team in a 4-0 league win over St Johnstone.

2007: Celtic defeat Hearts 2-1 in a brilliant comeback, with Jarosik scoring the winner.

15th 1910: Celtic defeat Port Glasgow Athletic 4-0 in the league in the last ever meeting between the two clubs before they folded in 1911. Their club had the nickname of ‘The Undertakers’.

1927: Celtic defeat Clyde 7-0

1944: Albion Rovers defeat Celtic 2-1 in the league!

1994: Celtic’s league game at Aberdeen is abandoned on 61 minutes due to dense fog. The score was 0-0 at the time.

2011: Celtic defeat Hibs 3-0 to stay ahead of Rangers. Crazy week again with George Peat (SFA President) criticising Celtic for making issues of refereeing displays

16th 1926: Celtic draw 4-4 away v Hibs in the league.1965: Bertie Auld rejoined Celtic, and played for Celtic in 2-1 defeat to Hearts.

1971: Celtic thrash Dundee 8-1 at Dens Park in a league clash.

2021: Celtic 0-0 Livingston, in a match managed by Celtic coach Gavin Strachan due to covid isolation of 13 players, Lennon & Kennedy after the Dubai trip when Julien got the Covid virus. Although Lennon etc in charge via the phone!

17th 1920: Thomas ‘Tully’ Craig scores twice on his Celtic debut as the Bhoys win a league clash at Kilmarnock 3-2.

2001: Celtic defeat University of South Florida Bulls 5-1 in a friendly with doubles by Johnson & Lubo.

18th 1973: Manchester United sign striker Lou Macari for a fee of £200,000

1982: Charlie Nicholas suffers a broken leg in a reserve match at Morton

2013: Celtic legend Sean Fallon dies at the age of 90.

19th 1901: Jimmy Quinn makes his competitive Celtic debut in a 4-3 win at St Mirren.

2016: Celtic hammer Hamilton 8-1 in the league with goals from six players, and Griffiths grabs a hat-trick.

21st  1962: Press reports state Celtic make enquires about signing Derry-born Northern Ireland international Johnny Crossan from Standard Liege.

2015: Celtic 4-0 Motherwell, minute’s applause in memory of Martin ‘Kano’ Kane from the incredible Kano Foundation who had sadly passed away recently.

22nd  1949: Celtic score three times at Tanadice but crash out of the Scottish Cup at the first hurdle following a 4-3 defeat to Dundee United.

2003: Celtic 2-3 Feyenoord, Lisbon Lions Testimonial; Feyenoord side included ex-Celtic PvH

2017: Celtic 3-0 winners of Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup. Post-match Rod Stewart did the draw with Alan Stubbs & SFA official, and Rod Stewart definitely was a little stipsy during the draw making all laugh!

23rd 1957: Dumbarton 2-5 Celtic, Friendly. First ever match played under floodlights at Boghead Park Dumbarton.

1965: Celtic draw 3-3 with newly promoted Morton. Celtic’s fifth match that month without a win.

1982: Paul McStay makes his competitive Celtic debut in a 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Queen of the South. John Halpin also made his debut and scored the fourth goal.

24th 1891: Celtic are forced to play whole game with only ten men after Mick McKeown missed the train. Celtic lost 3-1 to Vale of Leven……Sandy McMahon makes his first Celtic appearance in the same game

1976: Motherwell 3-2 Celtic, Scottish Cup; First time Celtic had been knocked out in the 3rd round since 1968

2010: St Johnstone 1-4 Celtic, SPL; Celtic were 1-0 down at half-time to a penalty but fought back strongly. Darren O’Dea is made captain partly due to injuries

1925: Ex-Celt Dick Beattie is sentenced for his part in a match fixing operation which became known as the British betting scandal of 1964

2020: Celtic 3-0 Ross County; as Sevco lost their game the same weekend, Celtic went clear ahead in the league, and from here were to seal the league title and nine-in-a-row

26th  2010: Celtic sign striker Morten Rasmussen from Brondby.

27th  1974: Celtic play their first ever competitive Sunday game – a 6 -1 Scottish Cup rout of Clydebank at Parkhead.
28th  2009: Celtic defeat Dundee United 11-10 in a penalty shoot-out in the semi-final of the League Cup at Hampden.
29th  1969: Celtic thrash Partick Thistle 8-1 in a Scottish Cup First Round Replay at Parkhead.

2017: Celtic 4-0 Hearts, League; Celtic break Lisbon Lions Record: Brendan Rodgers’ side extended their unbeaten domestic run since the start of the season to 27 games, one more than Jock Stein’s all-conquering side of 1966/67.

30th 1915: Celtic legend Jimmy Quinn retires from football.
